With the London Mayoral Election turnout at 40.5% and the UK turnout looking low democratic engagement is waning. There are a lot of very disengaged people out there and it is hardly surprising. The ineptitude of the Conservative Government is a big part of it. But how much are their failures down to the changes the Blair and Brown governments made to how Britain functions, both constitutional and the creation of the progressive quangocracy. Implementing a Supreme Court effectively removed sovereignty from Parliament and handed it to lawyers and a culture where Civil Servants are bold enough to be open political activists, going out of their way to make implementation of policies impossible, is now quite normal. Despite the feeling of disengagement and the undermining of the franchise by the hobbling of democratically elected politicians. It is imperative that you get out in the rain to vote. Even if your candidate has no chance of winning, people died for your right to be heard. Don’t let them demoralise you into silence.
That you are reading The Daily Sceptic shows you know we have some serious problems in our society even if you are not actively concerned by it. The politicisation of everything is both wearing and demoralising because it is meant to be wearing and demoralising. Those who are driving this make everything about political activism because the reality is that most people just want to be left alone to carry on with their lives. This is exactly what they want. They want you to be passive.
Judging by the engagement on The Daily Sceptic, The Free Speech Union, Spiked, multiple YouTube Channels and Substacks, never mind the circulation of sites like The Daily Mail, there is huge support for returning the world to something resembling sanity and to remove the toxic manufactured consensus that is used to both drive radical ideologies across society and cancel any heretics that dare object. We are very good at reading, listening, talking about it to friends and family and it is great that people are waking up to this. What’s missing is the next step.
Your opponents are well funded, well organised, they are a minority but yet they own the majority of mainstream media outlets. They work in paid activist organisations which are dedicated to gaslighting you and smearing those they perceive as a threat to their ideology. They have taken over every institution from the National Trust to professional accreditation associations like HR’s CIPD. They fund lobbying groups and social media farms designed to create the impression that theirs is a ‘grass roots movement’ to hoodwink flip flopping politicians. They are in the Churches, the Universities, the schools, the Councils. Their ideologies are enforced through procurement policies through the supply chain so even the smallest companies must comply if you want any chance of ever supplying to them. Make no mistake, we are facing an enormous task here.
So what can you do? It’s all very well to sit here and read this and nod along before making a cup of tea. Yes, speaking out openly might cost you your job or your business and it’s a tall ask, however, there are those of us who will speak on your behalf, will fight on your behalf but we need your help. We can’t do this without your help. So please, put your money where your mouth is and if you read something you like the look of, at the very least subscribe and share it. If it is a publication or service you agree with and can afford to, please consider backing it. The activists are being bankrolled by a small number of extremely wealthy individuals. The counter to this is that you are legion and if everyone does their bit, then they cannot stand.
So please, if you have not already done so, consider donating to The Daily Sceptic, join the Free Speech Union, join us at FairJob UK - we now have a supporter’s membership. Subscribe to Spiked and other blogs or podcasts you feel passionate about. Even a couple of quid makes all the difference, and if you can’t afford to then at least share it and like it.
Just as we need to get out to vote, however disillusioned and disenfranchised we are it is still a powerful voice they cannot ignore. We do not have the luxury of sitting this out. Unfortunately, we’ve all been doing that for so long, we’ve woken up to a nightmare. We need to pull together.
