The media this weekend focused on the few dozen protestors at Turnbury whilst ignoring the turnout of supporters at the airport. It's very important for us to question assumptions and also polls . I suspect that Trump is considerably more popular in the UK than many would assume.
If you look at YouGov's pages the majority of surveys support the perspective that he is unpopular, however, the majority of those surveys are online and online surveys are notoriously inaccurate when it comes down to tracking 'conservative' opinion as the majority of people are not plugged into a digital ecosphere 24/7
Yougov? Sorry but polls do not 'cut both ways'. Perfect eg is all the Yank claims vs Trump claiming Clinton was in the lead (thereby assisting the Russiagate conspiracy) and that Harris was neck and neck.
Similar happened when Boris Johnson won the enormous majority, polls had it for a close Labour victory. The middle classes have been trained to dislike Trump by their comedy shows on the BBC and C4 - is their anything more middle class than a satire or comedy show on the BBC?
Simplified: don't trust polls. They are designed to give the answer required by the body that commissions them. This has been borne out in the results of US and UK elections, when the right wing have won, despite poor polling. And the Scottish referendum.
The middle classes in the UK are the base of anti-Trump sentiment, as they consume the bien pensant output: BBC Newsnight, R4, HIGNFY, FT, The News Agents etc. Red Wall types dont and admire blunt, outspoken types much more.
